Monster Animated Banner Design
Founded 26 years ago, Monster is a world-renowned recruitment company, described by some as ‘Tinder for jobs’!
As well as using advanced technology to match the right people to the right job, they offer a salary calculator and a range of other resources to help candidates create killer CVs and prepare for interviews.
Monster approached us back in December 2019 (we had worked with our contact there on SEO and PPC campaigns in his previous role). They needed a selection of HTML5 banners in various formats – and they required a speedy turnaround time. The banners were to be animated in order to really stand out and catch potential candidates’ attention.
Although their iconic, larger-than-life purple monster tends to feature in adverts and on their website, they wanted these banners to be very much people-focused; lifestyle shots of employees in natural environments that would be relatable to their target audience.
In order to meet the pre-Christmas deadline, we immediately got to work after our briefing conference call, designing image-led, on-brand banners in 15 different formats.
We needed to make sure the lifestyle images we selected were appropriate for the size and format of the banner in question; some were narrow and horizontal in size, some were long and thin – others needed to stand out when shrunk right down to thumbnail size.
Once the initial proofs were sent across to the Monster team and approved, we began implementing the moving elements.
The animation elements on the banners mainly included shaking call-to-action buttons for added interest, as well as transition effects – slide-ins, fade-ins and so on. We managed to find a balance – we ensured that the animations didn’t distract from the ad itself, but that there was just enough movement to catch the eye of any potential job candidate.
Monster seemed delighted with the final result, and the 15 animated banners are now being used across the web as we type…
